STANDARDIZED TEST DATES
The following are the NYS Exams given to fourth grade students, the day for each exam is provided as well as an explanation of what is expected on each date.
English Language Arts (ELA)-
Tuesday, April 14- Day 1
*multiple questions only
Wednesday, April 15- Day 2
*multiple choice questions
*short answer questions
Thursday, April 16- Day 3
*Reading & Writing passages
*3 reading selections (answer short and extended response questions based on the story)
Mathematics-
Wednesday, April 22- Day 1
*multiple questions only
Thursday, April 23- Day 2
*multiple questions
*short answer responses
*must show work
*Friday, April 24- Day 3
* Solve and Explain Answers
* Must show all work
Science Exam-
Performance Test-
*Students arrive at and record their answer based on hands-on experiments, measuring, and manipulation.
Between May 20 to May 29
(exact date for each class to be announced)
Written part- June 1st
Answer multiple choice questions and short answers
Test Prep Materials
Students are currently being introduced to test prep materials in both ELA and Mathematics. These materials include the Ready New York CCLS 4 English Language Arts and Mathematics, which are aligned to the 4th grade Common Core Learning Standards. Each lesson in these test prep books provides rigorous instruction on the new Common Core Learning Standards. Throughout each book, Interim assessments and a performance task will be given after every unit to monitor student progress. These practice assessments will mirror the item types, format, and rigor of the new 2015 New York Tests.

Test Prep for the Science Test will begin in the Spring.
